Matthew Clark JD’91

Assistant Dean for Advancement

With over 30 years of experience, Matt’s higher education Advancement and External Affairs experience has been focused on program development and delivery, advocacy efforts among corporate, foundation and government constituents, individual philanthropy, and grant development. He also worked with several Fortune 500 companies as a technical writer and earned a law degree from SU’s College of Law with a concentration on Intellectual Property Law and Technology Management.

Anya Woods G’07

Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications

With over 15 years of experience in higher education marketing and communications, Anya has led major university rebrands, managed large-scale website redesigns, and implemented digital-first marketing strategies that led to increased enrollments and brand awareness in competitive markets. A graduate of Syracuse University’s S.I.Newhouse School of Public Communications, Anya spent most of her career in the Boston area. She is an award-winning Creative Director and owns her own boutique design firm, fold&stitch.

Jasmina Tacheva 

Assistant Professor

Jasmina earned her Ph.D. from the University at Buffalo’s (UB) School of Management, where she was part of the NAVIGATE Project, an NSF-sponsored initiative for supporting women in STEM. During her time at UB, she co-organized of the Annual Social Sciences and Humanities Symposium and won the 2018 UB World’s Challenge Challenge with ElevateHer—a data science education project for women in developing countries in collaboration with software engineer Manjusha Raveendran and structural engineer and founder of Women Engineers Pakistan Ramla Qureshi. Her research on the social networks of digital volunteers on Twitter won the best poster award at this year’s Northeast Regional Conference on Complex Systems.

Yang Yang

Assistant Professor

A computer scientist by training, Dr. Yang studies performance and achievement of individuals and organizations, with an emphasis on innovation, knowledge spillover and entrepreneurship. His research interest also lies in the area of artificial intelligence/machine learning,  big data, data mining. His research has appeared in journals and conferences such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Scientific Reports, PloS One, SIGKDD, ICDM, Knowledge and Information Systems, and ACM Transactions on Information Systems.  Media outlets featuring his research include the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, WIRED, the Washington Post, Forbes, Psychology Today, and Fortune.

Md Tariqul Islam ‘Pavel’

Assistant Professor

Joining us from the University of Kentucky, Pavel focuses  on the security and fault tolerance of distributed computing systems. His aim is to devise novel schemes, algorithms, and protocols that support the development of secure, reliable, and trustworthy distributed networks (e.g., cloud, edge, and vehicular networks). His research supports these undertakings, and he always thrives to design and deliver practical approaches to problems being experienced in industry or society. Other than the above areas, Pavel would also like to investigate new research topics in closely related areas such as, mobile cloud, sensor network, software-defined network, Internet of things (IoT), and block chain-based distributed systems.
